Centering Prayer of Middle Tennessee

Welcome to Contemplative Outreach Middle Tennessee

Contemplative Outreach Middle Tennessee is a chapter of Contemplative Outreach, Ltd which is a spiritual network of individuals and small faith communities committed to living the contemplative dimension of the Gospel. The common desire for Divine transformation, primarily expressed through a commitment to a daily Centering Prayer practice, unites our interdenominational community.

Our Middle Tennessee Chapter nourishes the practice of Centering Prayer by offering workshops, retreats, and ongoing support for individuals and prayer groups who want to deepen their relationship with God through contemplative prayer practices. Everyone is welcome. Centering Prayer is a receptive method of silent prayer in which we experience God’s presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself. This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship.

If you are interested in a centering prayer group, please contact the prayer group facilitator for the Zoom link and status of in-person gatherings.

You are invited to join The Meditation Chapel Mondays at 8:00 a.m. for Lectio Divina facilitator, Carolyn Goddard and Fridays at 8:00 a.m. for Centering Prayer, facilitators Carolyn Goddard, Robbie Pinter & Cissy Eyre. Sign up at The Meditation Chapel

Workshops and retreats are offered at St. Mary’s Retreat Center, Sewanee, TN.
